GVSA Fall 2014, Week 2
U10 Boys Red
The boys fought hard on Sunday for a 2-2 Tie vs. Hastings in Hastings. Mason had both goals for us, the first on a PK the second on an assist from Luc. Our GK's combined for 7 saves on 9 Shots, including stopping 2 PKs. It was a good team effort all around.

U19 Girls Red
The U19 Holland girls put forth a quality effort against Costa securing a 3-1 victory. Sadie opened the scoring in the first half with a lofted shot from 20 yards out. It was a 1-1 game heading into the final minutes of the 2nd half when Taylor finished a beautiful 1 v. 1 opportunity and Libby finished a goal off a rebound.

Our primary focus this past week in practice was on our individual defensive technique and decision making in the attacking third of the field. The girls showed great character in applying these techniques in their match play. They played a solid defensive game and started to figure out their attack as the game went on. They did a good job of finishing their scoring chances and put some decent pressure on the Costa back line.

The girls are starting to find their rhythm and it was good to get some momentum heading into the TBAYS tournament this weekend. We will continue to focus this week on our individual technique especially in the area of our first touch and passing to feet as well as our defensive shape as a team.

U9 Girls Red
After a season opening win last week, the Holland U9 girls team competed well against USA this past Saturday but fell just short of victory. There were plenty of positives to take-away for the girls. The team continues to play with a lot of aggression and a passion for the game. The girls did a solid job of containing and slowing down the USA attack. We are continuing to learn what it takes to play a complete game and they are also starting to recognize how to take advantage of scoring opportunities and stay organized defensively.
